Jaffna College Alumni Association (Vaddukoddai)

The Jaffna College Alumni Association (Vaddukoddai) was founded in 1879. It is considered one of the oldest alumni associations in Sri Lanka. Its objectives are as follows:
  1. To promote the moral, intellectual and social welfare of its members;
  2. To promote unity and co-operation among its members;
  3. To promote the physical and mental well-being of its members;
  4. To promote and foster a close and cordial relationship between the members and the College, i.e. the administrators, the academic and non-academic staff of the College and students;
  5. To support the administration of Jaffna College, the Board of Directors of Jaffna College and the Trustees of Jaffna College Funds in making Jaffna College a self-determining Protestant Christian educational institution that upholds participatory democracy, transparency, inclusiveness, social justice, local development and diversity in an eco-friendly manner;
  6. To build healthy relations with the parents and guardians whose children attend Jaffna College and explore the possibilities of collaborating with them in organizing and conducting activities that aim to contribute to the development of Jaffna College;
  7. To foster productive relations with the local communities that Jaffna College serves;
  8. To cultivate constructive relations with the various public authorities that support and cooperate with Jaffna College;
  9. To undertake and carry on all such activities as may appear necessary to attain the aims and objectives of the Association.
The Officers of the Association and the Executive Committee are annually elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Association held at Jaffna College. The Principal of Jaffna College serves as the Patron of the Association. An Alumni Relations Officer appointed by Jaffna College and the Alumni Representative to the Board serve as Ex- Officio members on the Executive Committee of the Association. This Association is responsible for the election of the Alumni Representative to the Board. The Jaffna College Alumni Association provides active support to the educational and extra- curricular activities conducted at Jaffna College. It also supports its branch associations in implementing their projects at Jaffna College.
