Jaffna College Celebrates 200th Anniversary with Eco-Friendly Bicycle Parade
Jaffna College organised a bicycle parade on the 24th of March 2023 as one of the events to celebrate the bicentennial year of the Batticotta seminary. The bicycle parade involved current students, staff, and alumni of the institution. The parade started from the Jaffna College Undergraduate Department in Jaffna town and passed through significant landmarks such as the clock tower and library, before proceeding along KKS road towards Uduvil Girls’ College. Many female students joined the parade at the Uduvil Girls’ College and it continued to Green Memorial Hospital and finally reached the school via Sithankerny. The event was a joyful celebration of the institution’s rich history and its contribution to the educational and social development of the region. The bicycle parade was an eco-friendly way of commemorating this milestone and a testament to the Jaffna College community’s commitment to sustainability and healthy living. It was heartening to see students, staff, and alumni come together to celebrate the school’s legacy and inspire future generations to continue its tradition of excellence.
